Hilton Garden Inn® Seattle/Issaquah Opens Today

Date: 5/30/2007

ISSAQUAH, Wash. – April 2, 2007 – Bringing full-service business and leisure amenities to Issaquah, the Hilton Garden Inn® Seattle/Issaquah opens its doors today. The anchor tenant of Rowley Properties’ Hyla Crossing commercial complex, the hotel will fulfill the needs of local residents, businesses, and community organizations, as well as the burgeoning Eastside business traveler.

Rowley Properties Inc., also owner of the new hotel, has tenaciously worked toward improving the quality of life and commerce in Issaquah throughout its 50-year history in development. Adding the Hilton Garden Inn® Seattle/Issaquah to the community underscores that pursuit.

“We’re delighted to provide the community with a much-needed lodging resource. The hotel’s proximity to major businesses and close access to recreation in the Pacific Northwest’s mountains and trails make the Hilton Garden Inn Seattle/Issaquah a versatile property for business and leisure guests alike. It’s truly the best of both worlds; the hotel nimbly serves the needs of all types of travelers,” said Kari Magill, chief operating officer of Rowley Properties Inc.

Ownership has made a focused effort to connect the property with its community, incorporating local art throughout the hotel lobby, restaurant and meeting spaces. Artists include well known local photographer Tim Heneghan, Issaquah-based glassblower Michael Holberg of Holberg Glass, and master sculptor Boris Spivak, who designed the “Fathers of Issaquah” statue located just outside the hotel entrance.

The roots of Issaquah are also represented through the names of the hotel meeting rooms. Founding community members Bill Henry and Bergsma, who owned the Issaquah Valley Dairy from 1930 until its closure in 1962 (the hotel now occupies the land of the former dairy); Issaquah Valley farmer Elvin Barlow, who defined the community through 45 years of farming the Barlow homestead (which is now partially occupied by the Sammamish Club); Bob Catterall, former owner of the Village Theatre, founder of Eastside Realty in 1963, and a prominent broker in the Issaquah community for 40 years; Clyde Denton, who founded the powerful Issaquah business Zetec, a premier eddy-current inspection group of nuclear power plants that once employed more that 300 people; and George W. Rowley Sr. and Mary Pat Rowley, who played an instrumental role in creating jobs, housing and the infrastructure of Issaquah.

The Hilton Garden Inn® Seattle/Issaquah prides itself on providing “Everything. Right where you need it.” Its 179 rooms, with six extra large suites with jetted tubs, bring a new level of accommodation to Issaquah. For example, The Garden Sleep System™, a proprietary bed by VSS Sleep Systems™ claims to be one of the most comfortable adjustable beds one can experience and can be found in all of the hotel’s King-sized rooms.

Work needs are well accommodated in the comfort of each room’s ergonomically designed workspace, which features the Herman Miller Mirra™ desk chair. In-room electronics are top tier, with a 26” High Definition flat screen television and a MP3/CD alarm clock; guests simply plug and play downloaded favorites to truly feel right at home. Each room also includes complimentary high-speed Internet access, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron and ironing board.

The main areas of the hotel boast travelers’ most requested amenities. The Great American Grill Restaurant® offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening room service. A dedicated fitness center with a complete circuit of exercise equipment, an indoor pool and a soothing whirlpool mean never missing a workout.

Business travelers will appreciate the hotel’s complimentary 24-Hour Business Center with remote color printer capabilities, computers with high-speed Internet, copier and fax. The 24-hour Pavilion Pantry® brings round-the-clock accessibility for simple sundries and provisions, while laundry facilities, and one day turn-around dry-cleaning are added conveniences. Hilton offers one of the industry’s most rewarding loyalty programs with Hilton Hhonors "double dipping" program which awards both airline miles and Hilton HHonors points for each stay or visit.

Those seeking meeting and private function space in Seattle’s Eastside need look no further than Hilton Garden Inn® Seattle/Issaquah. It offers 3,764 square feet of flexible event space with five breakout rooms including the grand Legacy Ballroom. Small group meetings convene in the quiet, well-equipped Boardroom (seats up to 12 people conference-style); larger groups will find the Legacy Ballroom a perfect fit for parties of 420 guests theater-style, 230 guests banquet-style and up to 400 guests reception-style. Of course, catering, full audio-visual equipment and a highly trained staff ensure an event’s success.

The Hotel Group (THG), an Edmonds-based hotel management organization, was selected to launch and manage the hotel and to recruit staff. THG recently announced the appointments of Michael Ryan as general manager and Robin Hudson as director of sales. Both Ryan and Hudson are 15-year hospitality industry veterans with a deep knowledge and breadth of experience around the region. The hotel will bring 50 newly created jobs to the community.
